Answer the following questions to determine the suitability between you and the target job and company:

1.    Do your skills and abilities fit the needs of the job and company? How?

2.    Is the job one that you would enjoy doing? Why do you think so?

Do you have work experience in this particular field?

3.    Why are you interested in this job and company? Is it just for a job, or do you have more specific, possibly mutually-beneficial interests? 

Is it the prestige?  Market dominance?  Reputation?  General feeling?  Not sure?

4.    What are three or more concrete benefits to the company you could offer? 

5.    What are ways you could do the job more effectively (than someone else?)

6.    What are three questions you would have for the interviewer / company representative? 

7.    And finally, why should the company consider you for employment?

8.    Homework:

ü  Choose three or more job advertisements (from newspapers, company sites, or employment sites) to apply your selection sheet criteria to.

ü  From the ad with the best fit or potential, prepare for the interview, with your own questions and answers, and bring the ad to the next class for the round-robin job interview session.
